Hi Five!!
Ron Snell
Diagnostic Specialist, Service Technician &
DriveClean Inspector & Emissions Repair Expert
Hi, I’m Ron Snell from Marks Auto Service. I’ve always been interested in being able to fix cars ever since I was a kid in high school, that’s where I learned the basic principles of fixing vehicles. From there, I met Mark Bergasse, with whom I started my apprenticeship to become a licensed technician. The apprenticeship is 9,000 hours with 1,000 hours in-school training. For the in-school training, I attended Mohawk College, and later graduated and become a fully licensed technician. I have now had the honour of working with Mark for over 9 years.
I currently hold 4 different licenses, for A/C, D/C, and Tech & Drivers. And those are just the beginning. I also have VHF radio license a D/C Emissions repair license. As you know, the technology is constantly changing, and the automotive field is no exception. Here at Mark’s Auto Service, we stay up-to-date with the latest technology by attending on-going training courses. By keeping up-to-date, we’ll be able to serve you better.
Shawn Edwards
Diagnostic Specialist, Service Technician &
DriveClean Inspector
I’m Shawn from Marks Auto Service. I have been working with Mark for a little over 4 years now. I became interested in the automotive trade in high school. I got my OSSD from M.M. Robinson in Burlington where I grew up. I graduated in 1990 and received a Certificate of Academic Achievement in mathematics for technology, machine shop and automotive courses.
I attended Mohawk College and was employed at a local Ford/Mercury dealership. After a four year period, I received my Certificate of Qualification in 1997 with my inter-provincial qualifications. With lots of hard work, I also received my certificate in the safe handling of Ozone Depleting Substances, which allows me to repair automotive air conditioning systems safely. I also have my emissions Inspector Certificate and I am working on my emissions repair certificate.
After working in some repair facilities, I decided to get into the technical aspects of the automotive trade. That is where Mark comes in. His facility repairs a lot of drivability problems that stump other shops. Thanks to his mentoring, I have become an automotive electronics specialist. I love the high-tech end of the trade and enjoy working with those electrons. I spend a lot of time keeping on top of technology, and I am always learning and growing as a technician. Technology never stops, neither can we.
In my spare time I enjoy restoring my 1943 Ford 3/4 ton army truck. I have also helped restore a 1943 WIlly’s MB army jeep that belongs to my grandfather. If I’m not working on vehicles, then I must be taking a trip somewhere on my motorcycle. I enjoy riding every chance I get. I also have my certificate of proficiency in amateur radio. That allows me to learn a great deal about the rest of the world. Talking to other radio enthusiasts around the world is a great experience. Take care, and happy motoring. Don’t forget to stop by for an oil change, and take a tour of the shop.
Steve Handojo
Licenced Technician, DriveClean Inspector
& Courtesy Shuttle Operator
Hello, I’m Steve Handojo. I was born and raised in Indonesia, but I have been living in the Toronto area since the fall of 1999.
I graduated from The Automotive Technology Centre (ATC) in 2005. I joined the team at Mark’s Auto Service shortly after and obtained a certificate as a Drive Clean Inspector. As I am still a 2nd year apprentice, I will be attending Mohawk College in Hamilton as I do my best at Marks Auto Service.
My experience here has been great; everything’s been going well as I”ve been working and learning from Mark, Shawn, Ron and Iain. I feel these guys are really good at what they do. Best of all, Marks Auto Service has top of the line equipment and tools to work with. What makes Marks Auto Service so great for me is that I can be around what I love…cars! I have a true passion for them, and own a beauty myself, a 1998 Honda Accord. My hobbies include camping, skiing, fishing, dancing and racing. I’m looking forward to seeing you in the shop.
Adrian Wong
Apprentice Technician, DriveClean Inspector & Courtesy Shuttle Operator
Hello to all of our wonderful customers, I am Adrian Wong, apprentice at the shop you have come to trust, Marks Auto Service. I found my start as a co-op student, being recommended by a teacher with high regards about Marks Auto Service. Upon graduation of my in school training at Niagara College, I was blessed with the opportunity to return to this place that I have learned so much at. I am currently undergoing the practical portion of the Automotive Technician Apprenticeship with a goal of being as knowledgeable as all of the great Technicians I work alongside with. Being a full time employee here has opened my eyes to a lot of new experiences and has taught me many skills regarding automobile servicing and customer service, from simple details such as ensuring all customer vehicles are clean, to solutions for a seized part. I am always driven to learn the trade and gain experience from helping and watching my mentors Mark, Ron, Shawn, and Steve, all of whom I look up to very much. I am very passionate about cars, as a young kid I was surrounded by toy cars whether it may be driving them around or putting them back together, and my love for automobiles has not stopped since, it is great to be able to make a career out of such a big interest. I spend my off time researching and learning about aftermarket performance for sport compact cars, which has always caught my attention. In the summer months I can be found at the local race track driving in various track day events, while snowboarding over the winter season. But whether I’m driving, snowboarding, or admiring from afar, my dedication and enthusiasm will always have cars on my mind. Thank you for choosing us as your car care specialists, we look forward to serving you soon.
